We often found that people add salt to their roofs. Why were not sure. However, what we can say for sure is that salt is extremely corrosive and can damage your roofing, siding, gutters, and downspouts.

• Leaks

When snow melts it turns to water. This is something we know. However, this can cause an issue for your roof. With the extra weight of the snow on your roof and the snow melting it can cause this water to get into your roof and cause some real damage.

• Attic Condensation

When your roof is handling all the snow from the winter build up, especially ice dams, there is a chance that just below the roof your attic ceiling will have excessive condensation. This can lead to several issues including wood rot and mold.
